New technologies, buildings, and units (or troops) will become available for the player to research and build as the game progresses. GameplayĪge of Empires II is set in Medieval Europe and during play a player will progress through four historical ages, the Dark Age, Feudal Age, Castle Age, and Imperial Age. The game is set directly after the fall of Rome and tasks players with building a great and powerful civilization during the Middle Ages. It was developed by Ensemble Studios, famous for the Age of Empires franchise and Age of Mythology. However, AoE+RoR run flawlesly on my win7/sandybridgei5/nvidia640m laptop, and only a minor colour fix needed for AoE2/conq. Games are fully patched, but neither XP or win7 are listed as compatible. It doesn't ask for any kind of internet connection and once installed, doesn't need the DVD on drive so i guess it's already DRMfree. It is marketed as "Ubisoft exclusive" and costed 7euros (10dollars). Some good news a week ago I bought "Age of Empires: Collector's Edition" that includes AoE, AoE:RoR, AoE2, AoE2conq along with the soundtrack, in a DVD.
